European football specialist, Reuben Obodai brings you first installment update of how Ghanaian players performed in abroad between Friday and Saturday.

There were superlative performances from some of the Ghanaian players who played on Friday and Saturday.

Christian Atsu was somewhat faultless for Newcastle United as they ended their five-match winless run in the league by smashing Cardiff City 3-0 at the St James' Park.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi proved his mettle in a rare start for Sochaux as he performed admirably to keep a clean sheet in their draw against AC Ajaccio.

It's been a while since two Ghanaian players record their names on the scoresheet for the same team. Samuel Afum and Baba Mensah were the heroes for Ilves in the Finnish Cup as they both registered their names on the score log.

ENGLAND

Jordan Ayew played 81 minutes for Crystal Palace in their 4-3 loss at Liverpool. Jeffrey Schlupp made a brief appearance for the losers.

Daniel Amartey missed Leicester City 4-3 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers through injury.

Christian Atsu was superb for Newcastle United as they returned to winning ways following a 3-0 victory over Cardiff.

In the Championship, Albert Adomah played 59 minutes for Aston Villa as they rallied back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Hull City.

Andy Yiadom played the entire duration for Reading FC in their 2-1 loss at Derby County.

In League One, Kwesi Appiah was not included in the AFC Wimbledon matchday squad that lost 4-1 at home to Barnsley.

Joe Dodoo was missing in Blackpool FC squad that played goalless draw with Shrewsbury.

Tarique Fosu cameoed for Charlton Athletic in their 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley.

Bernard Mensah was left out of Lincoln City squad that beat Grimsby 1-0 at home.

Alex Addai came on in the 66th minute for Cheltenham in their 2-0 loss at Carlisle United.

Enoch Andoh and Koby Arthur warmed the bench for Macclesfield Town in their 2-1 win over Oldham Athletic.

Hiram Boateng was not included in Exeter City squad that lost 1-0 at Newport County.

In League Two, Immanuelson Duku did not make Barnet matchday squad that lost 4-0 at Braintree.

Kevin Lokko scored and sent off for Dover Athletic in their 1-1 draw with Bromley. Nortei Nortey played 90 minutes for the winners.

Nana Ofori Twumasi and Harold Odametey enjoyed 90 minutes for Maidenhead in their 2-1 home loss against Solihull Moors. Nana Owusu made a brief appearance for the losers while Kwame Thomas missed the game for the victors.

SPAIN

Patrick Twumasi and Mubarak Wakaso were second half substitutes for Deportivo Alaves as they were thump 4-0 at Getafe.

Thomas Partey was magnificent in the middle of the park for Atletico Madrid as they smashed Huesca 3-0 at away.

In the Segunda Division, Yaw Yeboah played 63 minutes for CD Numancia in their 3-2 win over Cordoba.

ITALY

Nicholas Opoku picked a booking but played the entire duration for Udinese as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Parma. Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu was not added to the losers matchday squad due to injury.

Kevin-Prince Boateng enjoyed 90 minutes for US Sassuolo as they held Inter Milan to a goalless draw at away. Kwadwo Asamoah played the entire duration for Inter while Alfred Duncan lasted 72 minutes for Sassuolo.

Moses Odjer was left out of Salernitana matchday squad that defeated Palermo 2-1 at away.

Bright Gyamfi warmed the bench for Benevento Calcio in their 1-1 stalemate at Lecce.

GERMANY

Kasim Nuhu warmed the bench for TSG Hoffenheim in their 3-1 home loss against Bayern Munich.

Emmanuel Ntim was left out of Valenciennes matchday squad that played 1-1 draw at Chateauroux.

John Boye lasted full period of action for FC Metz as they were shocked 2-1 at home by Clermont.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi kept a clean sheet for Sochaux as they played goalless draw with AC Ajaccio.

Grejohn Kyei was an unused substitute for RC Lens in their 2-1 win over Nancy Lorraine.

THE NETHERLANDS

Myron Boadu missed AZ Alkmaar 3-0 home win over FC Utrecht through injury.

Jonathan Opoku registered an assist for VVV Venlo in their 4-2 win at PEC Zwolle.

In the Eerste Divisie, Rodney Antwi warmed the bench for Volendam in their 3-1 home loss against Eindhoven FC.

Kelvin Luckassen was introduced with just 8 minutes on the clock for Almere City in their 2-1 defeat at Go Ahead Eagles.

BELGIUM

Joseph Aidoo enjoyed full throttle for KRC Genk in their 3-2 win at Sint Truiden. Samuel Asamoah played 90 minutes for the losers while Joseph Paintsil was an unused substitute for the victors.

Bernard Kumordzi picked a bookking but lasted full throttle for KV Kortrijk in their 2-1 loss at Standard Liege.

Eric Ocansey was not included in KAS Eupen matchday squad as they battered Sporting Lokeren 4-0.

Nana Opoku Ampomah was substituted in the 90th minute for Waasland Beveren in their 1-1 draw with Cercle Brugge.

Gabriel Mensah lasted 90 minutes for Pieta Hotspurs in their 3-0 away defeat against Birkirkara.

PORTUGAL

Alhassan Wakaso picked a booking but lasted full throttle for Vitoria Guimaraes as they were pipped 1-0 at home by SL Benfica. Joseph Amoah played 69 minutes for the losers but Henry Medarious missed the game for them through injury.

In the Segunda Division, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu enjoyed 90 minutes for Vitoria Guimaraes B in their 1-0 loss at CD Cova da Piedade.

Elvis Manu picked a booking before being taken off in the 71st minute for Akhisar Genclik Spor in their 3-1 home loss against Besiktas.
