ENGLAND

Midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong warmed the bench for the 'Gunners' as Arsenal needed an 83rd minute strike from Robin van Persie to book a 2-1 win over a stubborn Sunderland side at the Emirates Stadium.

John Pantsil earned his 100th cap in England on Sunday by coming on as a 57th minute substitute for Leicester City who suffered a 2-0 defeat at Birmingham City.

Bristol City's misery in the campaign continued on Saturday as they suffered yet another defeat.

Mid-table side Peterborough United edged them 2-1 at their favourite Ashton Gate Stadium.

Ghana midfielder Albert Adomah played the full 90 minutes for Bristol City.

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with VfL Osnabrück.

Youngster Jeff Gyasi played the entire duration for Rot-Weiß.

Arminia Bielefeld remained at the foot of the table after losing 1-0 at Kickers Offenbach.

Defender Marcel Appiah lost his starting place at Bielefeld but former AshGold striker Eric Agyemang came off the bench to play 12 minutes.

Olympique Marseille drew their third game on a trot after failing to beat Toulouse.

Andre Ayew was booked on the 77th minute and lasted 82 minutes while his younger brother Jordan came off the bench to play 29 minutes in the 0-0 contest.

Caen earned a vital 1-1 draw at Brest to remain in 8th place.

Full-back Jerry Vandam manned the defence of his loan club Caen and lasted the entire duration of the match.

New boys Evian Thonon Gaillard now face the prospect of dropping to the relegation zone after losing 2-1 at home to nine-time champions Saint Etienne.

ITALY

Udinese remained in second place despite drawing 0-0 with Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

Kwadwo Asamoah played a free role for Udinese as they earned that vital draw with ten men. Compatriot Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu watched the entire game from the bench.

Sulley Muntari played his first full 90 minutes in the Serie A in several months for Inter Milan who now face the likelihood of dropping into the relegation zone.

They surrendered a 6th minute lead to lose 2-1 at Catania.

Champions AC Milan gave their campaign a shot in the arm as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over a stubborn Palermo side at the San Siro.

Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng was omitted from the AC Milan squad because of injury.

However, youngster Afriyie Acquah was brought on in the final 16 minutes of the game for Palermo.

In the Serie B, striker Yaw Asante watched from the bench as his Grosseto suffered a 2-0 loss at Cittadella.

Sassuolo narrowed the gap between themselves and leaders Torino by beating AlbinoLeffe 1-0 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena.

In the reserves league, Fiorentina's Primavera moved to second place with 11 points after comfortably beating Sampdoria 3-1.

Midfielder Daniel Kofi Agyei captained the Fiorentina side while Amidu Salifu and Nii Ashong both played 90 minutes but striker Maxwell Acosty is suspended.

Elsewhere,  defender Bright Addae scored the winner for Parma's Primavera side a powerful in a 2-1 victory over Siena.

Midfielder Godfred Adolf was brought on in the last 20 minutes of the game.

SPAIN

Villarreal failed to win for the fourth consecutive time after churning out a 0-0 draw at Getafe.

Ghana youth midfielder Mubarak Wakaso played the entire second half for the Yellow Submarines.

Newcomers Granada FC and Atletico Madrid played out a 0-0 draw game at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.

On loan Udinese midfielder Richard Boateng failed to make the first team grades at Granada.

Would-be Ghana midfielder Jeffery Sarpong played 69 minutes for Real Sociedad who slipped to a 2-0 loss at Real Zaragoza.

BELGIUM

Cofie Bekoe and Rahim Ayew did not play in Lierse's 2-1 win at Zulte-Waregem because of documentation and injury respectively.

There was no action for either Patrick Amoah or Westerlo's William Owusu-Acheampong as OH Leuven and Westerlo battled to a 0-0 draw.

Midfielder Abdul Yakeen Iddi maintained his place in the Mechelen starting line-up as they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Cercle Brugge.

Daniel Opare was a full-timer as Standard Liege suffered their heaviest defeat of the season going down 5-0 at Anderlecht .

SWITZERLAND

Winger Ishmael Yartey was imperious in FC Servette's 3-1 crashing of Yverdon in the round of 16 in the Swiss Cup. He set up all three goals.

UKRAINE

Defender Daniel Addo received a straight red card for a horrible challenge as his Zorya FC side drew 0-0 with Vorskla.

FINLAND

On Friday, Dickson Agyeman played in midfield for Jaro who defeated second-placed Inter Turku 3-2.

TURKEY

Former Ghana youth defender Jerry Akaminko was a pillar in defence for Manisaspor who won 2-1 to move up to 11th place.

In the second-tier league, whiz kid Torric Jibril played a cameo role in Bucaspor's 5-2 drubbing of Denizlispor. Jibril was replaced in the 64th minute.

Striker Dominic Adiyiah dropped to the Karsiyaka bench as they condemned Tavsanli Linyitspor to a 4-0 defeat.

Bismark Idan warmed the bench for Goztepe which recorded a 1-0 loss at home to leaders Boluspor.

 

USA

In the MSL, midfielder Kalif Alhassan played the entire match for Portland Timbers who recorded a 2-0 reverse at home to Houston Dynamo.

Strikers Dominic Oduro and Patrick Nyarko both played for Chicago Fire in their 2-1 victory at DC United.

Former Ghana Under-20 midfielder Gershon Coffie played in Vancouver Whitecaps' 2-0 reverse at Dallas FC.

DENMARK

Nordsjaelland helped themselves to the second spot after beating Aalborg BK 1-0.

Midfielder Enock Adu-Kofi was booked on the 68th and played the entire match for Nordsjaelland.

EGYPT

In the first week of the Egyptian Premier League, ENPPI and El Gounah shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw.

Midfielder Samuel Ocran played the entire match for Gounah.

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Francis Akwaffo made his debut for Al Ittihad in their 1-1 draw at El Daklyeh.

Samuel Owusu came on in the 65th minute for Ghazl El Mehalla in their 3-0 defeat at home to Al Masry.

Striker Kwabena Yaro played the entire duration as El Entag El Harby were shocked 2-1 at home by El Shorta.

 

GREECE

Bottom-placed Kerkyra surrender an 80th minute lead to draw 2-2 with Atromitos in the Super League.

Midfielder Abdul Osman played the full 90 minutes for Kerkyra.

Francis Dickoh was a pillar at the back for Aris who battled to a 1-1 draw with Ergotelis.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie scored a classy goal for giants Panathinaikos and send them to the summit of the table.

ISRAEL

Ghana midfielder Laryea Kingston sat out of Hapoel Be'er Sheva's 1-1 draw with Maccabi Haifa.

Former Kessben FC defender Daniel Addo was part of a Hapoel Petah Tikva defence that conceded five goals at Hapoel Tel Aviv in a 5-0 scoreline.

NORWAY

Ghana midfielder Mohammed Abu scored a 54th minute goal to earn a 1-1 draw for Stromsgodset at Sogndal.

Compatriots Adam Larsen Kwarasey and Razak Nuhu both played full time for Stromsgodset.

Former Ghana U17 captain Paul Addo warmed the bench for Odd Grenland who dropped to 7th place.

On Friday, King Osei Gyan played 70 minutes for Viking who recorded a 3-0 loss at Valerenga.

SCOTLAND

Hibernian dropped to the relegation zone after losing yet again this time to Motherwell.

Striker Manuel Agogo lasted was a full timer as Hibs lost 1-0 at home.

SERBIA

Defender Lee Addy did not play in Red Star Belgrade's 5-0thrashing of Metalac GM on Saturday.

Francis Bossman, the erstwhile Hearts of Oak midfielder, played in Sloboda's 1-0 home reverse to BSK Borca.

AUSTRIA:

Youngster Felix Adjei made his first team debut Red Bull Salzburg who drew 1-1 with Wacker Innsbruck.

The 20-year-old right back was handed a starting role but was replaced after 64 minutes in the Bundesliga.

SWEDEN

Former Ghana U20 striker Kwame Amponsah-Karikari sealed a 2-1 victory for AIK Stockholm as they triumph over Hacken. The win has helped AIK to second place.

Elsewhere, midfielder James Frempong played the last eight minutes for Norrkoping which defeated Elfsborg 2-1.
