Jakarta: Persija Jakarta have announced the resignation of Ivan Kolev as the head coach of the Indonesian champions.
Persija have endured a difficult start to the season - domestic as well as international - with the club already eliminated from the 2019 AFC Cup and languishing third from bottom in the domestic league.
A late goal by Paulo Sergio saw Bali United see off Persija Jakarta 1-0 on Friday as they made it three wins from three and Persija â having picked up just a solitary point â dropped into the relegation zone.
Persija CEO Ferry Paulus, in a statement, wished the Bulgarian well in his future endeavours.

“Coach Kolev officially resigned from Persija Jakarta starting Monday, June 6, 2019. He feels responsible because he hasn’t been able to provide the best for the team,” Persija CEO said.
“We are grateful for what Kolev has given to the team. Hopefully, in the future Kolev will be more successful, wherever he continues his career as a coach.”
The club will use the international break to find a successor for Kolev.
