Ghana Premier League clubs to be paid TV rights money tomorrow
Ghana Premier League clubs will be paid their share of the TV rights money on Tuesday.

The Ghana Football Association will on Tuesday disburse the first installment of the Premier League TV rights money to the 16 clubs in the elite division.

South African Pay TV channel SuperSport clinched a three-year deal reported to be worth US$ 700,000 per season late last month for the Ghanaian top-flight.

The relationship between the Ghana FA and SuperSport was officially announced in Accra last Thursday at a ceremony.

This has come as a big relief for all 16 clubs after mobile telecommunication giants Glo, then title sponsors, defaulted in paying.

"The first payment will reach the clubs next Tuesday, the rest will come at scheduled times," Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi confirmed at the launch.

"I wish I could disclose the amount involved in the deal but because of the company's (SuperSport) policy I cannot."

Nyantakyi, who is also the president of Wa All Stars Football Club, is optimistic the new TV deal will help clubs to bring on board corporate bodies.

"The decision of corporate bodies to sponsor our clubs is influenced a great deal by television coverage, and SuperSport will be providing us with quality coverage; and this will attract many brands to associate with our clubs and the League," he said.
