Preview - Group B: Al Ittihad (KSA) v Al Wahda FSCC (UAE)

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad welcome UAE’s Al Wahda to the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium as the two sides vie for the top spot in the 2019 AFC Champions League Group B.

Al Wahda have sealed a knock-out stage place for the first time since 2007 and are currently top of the table with 12 points, two ahead of their Tuesday hosts. A draw will be enough for the Emiratis to go through as group leaders, while only the three points will send Al Ittihad on top.

Missing for the Abu Dhabi side is the competition’s top scorer Leonardo. The Brazilian was allowed to travel to his home country ahead of the match for family reasons.

The match marks the penultimate appearance in the Al Wahda dugout for coach Henk ten Cate who has announced his departure from the club at the end of the season. The Dutchman’s last test will see him face rivals Al Ain on Sunday with the winners getting a ticket to the 2020 AFC Champions League.

Al Ittihad ended a difficult season in tenth place, but will look forward to the knock-out stage with coach Jose Luis Sierra confirmed to stay on for another season after helping the embattled team secure top division survival.
