Prez Mills advises Black Stars to learn penalty kicks

Ghana President John Mills has jokingly advised the Black Stars to learn the art of taking penalties to avoid the heartbreak that befell them at the 2012 Nations Cup.

The Black Stars were denied a final berth after a 1-0 semi-final defeat to Zambia at the tournament co-hosted in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Star striker Asamoah Gyan first half penalty miss in the game ensured the hearts of millions of Ghanaians were broken.

Presenting his fourth State of the Nation Address to parliament on Thursday, President Mills opted to offer some piece of advice to the players ahead of future tournaments.

He advised the players take some lessons from former Sports Minister and now in-charge of Water Resources, Works and Housing Hon E.T Mensah.

"I was going to suggest that we need to teach them how to take penalties and somebody in this august house and an expert in penalty taking is Hon E.T Mensah," President Mills said.

"Government will continue to support the team in every step of the way. They did their best and we must all continue to support them.

"Even though they didn't, win we can take consolation in the fact that they were beaten by the eventual winners.’’
