Afriyie Acquah admits he is ‘very happy’ to be at Parma before touching on his difficulties while at Palermo.

The young Ghanaian completed his switch from Palermo to Parma late last week and admits he is happy to be chosen by Roberto Donadoni after a difficult time in Sicily.

"I am very happy to be here,” Acquah told fcparma.com. “I have come to Parma to work hard and play. I arrived in Italy very young, it is not easy for us players who come from Africa to play in Italy.”

The midfielder joined the Rosaneri at the age of 18 and found it difficult to work his way into the first team.

“By us, we played very simple [football],” explained the 20-year-old, “there are all the schemes and tactics that are used here.

“In Palermo I was fine, both in the Primavera (youth team) and in the first team, but I did not have much space. I'm young, I want to play and I also like to try and score.”
