Q&A: John Boye speaks on Nations Cup
John Boye believes the Black Stars can meet expectations at the 2012 Nations Cup

Is the team ready?

Yes, I am sure we are ready. The atmosphere in camp is very good and everyone feels involved. It is an honor for us to defend the colors of the country in this tournament so we are ready to give everything.

Ghana are favourites for the title. What are your feelings about this status?

We do not feel particularly under pressure and we want to honor our country and raise the flag of Ghana high by playing well. We must not forget that we have other strong competitors, such as Senegal and Ivory Coast. Success will require the determination and our ability to work hard.

How do you see Ghana's Group?

This is not an easy draw. Mali is a formidable team. They will not lose points against Guinea and Botswana-two teams that we respect. It will be serious and as I said the whole team should work in one direction.

This is your first tournament with the Black Stars, how do you feel?

I'm proud to be able to wear the jersey of Ghana and I am very pleased to take part in this campaign. I feel very well in my teammates. I am honored to have the opportunity to play for my country and I pray I will be able to take them as high as possible.

You are likely to start in the absence of Isaac Vorsah who is suspended. What can you offer?

I do not know yet, but once I'm on the pitch, I would do everything possible to defend my team.

What is your assessment of your first half of the season with Rennes?

It went well and I am very satisfied with this first half of the Ligue 1. I sincerely hope that this will continue as well. There is no reason that we stop. We are only one point from third place.
