Premier League best referee Thomas Nunoo wants the media to highlight the positives of match officials on the local scene.

Referees in the country are perceived to be corrupt and lacking the credentials to officiate international matches.

Clubs in the top flight have often complained about bias officiating and accused some unscrupulous club officials of infiltrating the institution with money.

Nunoo, an auditor by profession, believes the media can help cleanse the image of referees by projecting their good sides.

''I think the media should do more by talking of our positives rather than always dwelling on few mistakes from some of the referees,'' Nunoo told Happy FM.

''We're humans and we all make mistakes sometimes. But I think if your child is unintelligent in school and begins to show signs of improving, you motivate him to do well rather than chastise him.''

Nunoo was also named the most outstanding performer in the MTN FA Cup.
