Rennes coach Frederic Antonetti has praised Ghana defender John Boye for his resolute defending on his debut last Sunday.

Boye stepped in for injured duo Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik and Kader Mangane and kept a clean-sheet in their 2-0 win over Nice.

"John Boye is a boy who will succeed. This is an excellent defender. He is the best defender," Antonetti told Stade Rennais website.

The 23-year-old joined the club in 2008 but after an initial complicated transfer dispute he was cleared and spent two seasons with the youth side.
