Roma midfielder alledgedly uttered racist remarks during Juventus loss

Roma’s Daniele De Rossi could find himself in trouble after he was discovered aiming a potentially racist insult towards Juventus’s Mario Mandzukic in the Bianconeri’s 1-0 win over the Lupi.

The incident took place just before the half hour mark when Mandzukic appeared to have handled the ball in a deliberate manner which led to De Rossi calling the Croatian a gypsy.

According to Mediaset, the Giallorossi vice-captain was caught lip-reading saying “shut up, you piece of s*** gypsy”.

In what has already been a turbulent season for the Capital club, this incident could mean that De Rossi could face suspension if found guilty which only adds to Roma’s woes.

Italian football has had a long history with racism. In may 2013, a fixture between AC Milan and Roma was delayed after Roma’s fans were heard taunting Mario Balotelli with racist remarks.
