Sampdoria consider terminating defender’s contract for drink driving

Sampdoria are set to terminate defender Djamel Mesbah’s contract following a failed alcohol test by the Police.

The Algerian was ordered to pull over his car around midnight on Tuesday but  Mesbah refused, triggering a police chase before he was captured and forced to perform an alcohol test – which he failed, as he was three times above the allowed limit.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Blucerchiati are said to be furious with the news and are reportedly on the verge of cancelling the player’s contract.

The former AC Milan full-back refused all possible moves away during the January transfer window, as Massimo Ferrero’s side were looking to get rid of his services.

The 31-year-old has featured in seven Serie A matches for his side this season, as well as making one appearance in the Coppa Italia.
