Serie A Team of the Week | Round 23

Published on: 11 February 2019

Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A after beating Sassuolo 3-0, with Napoli failed to do the same at Fiorentina.

The fight for the Champions League places saw both Milanese clubs responded to their Roman counterparts. Roma and Lazio overcame Chievo and Lazio, while did Inter and AC Milan did the same against Parma and Cagliari, respectively.

At the bottom, a huge win for Frosinone at Sampdoria made the relegation scrum all the more interesting.

Our Team of the Week will see the usual 3-4-3 system deployed. Let us know your thoughts!

Alban Lafont – Fiorentina
At least three phenomenal saves to deny the Napoli strikers and salvage a point for La Viola.

Davide Calabria – AC Milan (2 Team of the Week appearances)
A constant presence down the right, both defensively and in attack, serving the assist for Lucas Paqueta’s goal and being always there when needed.

German Pezzella – Fiorentina (4 apps)
A true leader. He fought until the very end, despite the injury, to help Fiorentina get the result.

Hans Hateboer – Atalanta (3 apps)
A tractor down the right flank, and had the energy to serve the assist for Duvan Zapata’s winning goal.

Lucas Paquetà – AC Milan
A beautiful finish to double the Rossoneri’s lead and then dedicate the goal to the Flamengo victims.

Raman Chibsah – Frosinone
A monster in the middle, absolutely annihilating the Sampdoria midfielders and also being key to some counter attacks for Frosinone.

Sami Khedira – Juventus
Scored one and could have scored more. Always at the right place at the right time.

Josip Ilicic – Atalanta (4 apps)
The goal to equalise, as well as quality all round as usual for the Slovenian.

Daniel Ciofani – Frosinone
A goal worth much more than just the three points, as Frosinone close the gap with the teams ahead and can now seriously attempt to avoid relegation.

Edin Dzeko – Roma (4 apps)
A goal and an assist to pave the way to Roma’s victory at Chievo.

Lautaro Martinez – Inter (3 apps)
Came on to win the game for the Nerazzurri with a great strike. Could he do any better?
