Sudan keep pressure on Ghana after defeating Swaziland

Sudan beat Swaziland 2-1 in Mbabane on Sunday to maintain the pressure on Ghana at the top of their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Group I.

The victory means Sudan and Ghana are level on 10 points at the top of the table and with the Black Stars still to visit Khartoum, Sudan might feel they are now pool favourites.

Swaziland put up a brave fight but were unable to hold on for what would have been a good point as Sudan sealed their win five minutes from time.

Having taken the lead through Bdr-Aldeen Galag, Sudan looked to be on their way, before the home side equalised with 11 minutes remaining on the clock.

However, Alaa Eldin Yousif popped up with five minutes left on the clock to make the score 2-1 and give Sudan a vital win.

The result after the weekend's matches in the group means both Congo and Swaziland are out of contention for place at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations as they cannot overtake Ghana or Sudan.

Ghana will host Swaziland in the next round of matches while Sudan travel to face Congo with the Black Stars keen the Sudanese dropping points in Brazzaville before the two sides clash in Khartoum in October.
