Team of the Week: October 14-16

Published on: 17 October 2011

Adam Larsen Kwarasey

The 23-year-old returned to his place as Stromsgodset's first choice goalkeeper and impressed in their 1-1 draw at Sogndal.

He was on high alert and responded well anytime the home side came close especially in the opening minutes of the game.

He was effective between the sticks for Stromsgodset. Adam was a decisive element in securing the point for Stroms.

Jerry Vandam

The French-born Ghanaian defender has been impressive for Caen where he is on loan from champions Lille. His versatility saw him being shifted from central defence to right-back and he put in an assured performance for Caen as they secured a 1-1 draw at Brest.

Nana Akwasi Asare

Nana Asare advertised yet another impressive form for Utrecht who lost 1-0 at PSV Eindhoven. Asare made the flanks his own and created space for the midfield to operate but for the one man disadvantage of Utrecht they could not make any impact.

Bright Addae

The former Ghana U20 defender has returned to Parma with determination to succeed after a spell in Spain.

On Saturday, he scored the winner for the Primavera squad as they defeated Siena 2-1.

Jerry Akaminko

Akaminko was commanding in defence for Manisaspor who won their second consecutive game in the Turkish top flight. He was rock solid at the back.

Derek Boateng

The former Getafe midfielder returned from international assignment to play in the second half of FC Dnipro's 4-1 hammering of Obolon.

His defence splitting passes and huge ability to create space in midfielder further helped to condemn the opposition.

Mohammed Abu

The pocket-size midfielder scored a cracker that was too powerful for Sogndal keeper Nils Kenneth Udjus to deal with.

He was quick on the ball and served as a positive link between the midfield and attack.

Ishmael Yartey

Imperious, wizard, swashbuckling, just find the words to describe Yartey's performance. He created all three goals as Servette cruised to a 3-1 victory over Yverdon-Sport FC in the round of 16 in the Swiss Cup.

Christian Atsu Twasam

The FC Porto loanee set up two goals for Rio Ave who thrashed Sousense 5-2 to progress through to the next stage of the competition. He was devilish on the flanks.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie

The former Arsenal fired Panathinaikos to the summit of the Greek Super League table with a classy 56th minute strike.

He was a constant threat for the opposition as his speed and tricky antics helped Panathinaikos finally sealed the victory.

Kwame Amponsah-Karikari

The 19-year-old returned to the team of the week to lead the attack after powering AIK Stockholm to second place with a masterful finish on the 33rd minute.
