Thomas Partey named in Africa Best XI at CAF awards gala

Ghana and Atletico Madrid ace Thomas Partey has been named in Africa's Best XI team at the Aiteo CAF Awards held in Senegal on Tuesday. 

The midfielder, who had a spectacular season in 2018, winning the Europa League Cup and the UEFA Super Cup made the team for the finest eleven on the continent which was dominated by players from the English Premier League.

African Player of the Year 2018, Mohammed Salah leads the attack with fellow teammate at Liverpool Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre Emerick Augbamayeng.

Partey sits at the heart of midfield flanked by Naby Keita of Liverpool and Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez.

Ivorian duo Serge Aurier and Eric Bailly of Tottenham and Manchester United respectively join serie A pair Mehdi Banatia and Khalidou Coublibaly in defence.

The only player plying his trade on the continent to make the squad is Ugandan goalkeeper Dennis Onyango who plays for South African Premier Soccer League club Mamelodi Sundowns.
