Finder Sports can confirm that head coach of the Black Meteors Ibrahim Tanko will rely on foreign players in their upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon to be played later this month.

Head coach of the team Ibrahim Tanko has invited an additional three foreign players to the squad that played against Togo in the first round. The invited players are Majeed Ashimeru, Joseph Painstil and Musah Nuhu.

This means Majeed Ashimeru (St. Gallen), Joseph Painstil(KRC Genk) and Musah Nuhu who have earned call-ups will join Yaw Yeboah (CD Numancia), Evans Mensah (HJK Helsinki), Kwabena Owusu(Salmantino UDS) , Joel Fameyeh(Dinamo Brest's), Osman Bukari (As Trencin)

Finder Sports understands that the foreign players will starting arriving in the country a week to the game which will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, 24 local based players have been invited to the Black Meteors camp as they prepare for the game.

According to our source the 24 players invited will be pruned down to make way for the foreign players to join the team.

The Black Metoers have failed to qualify for the Olympic Games since 2004 and with the new format for qualification they have to qualify for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt later this year and reach the final four to make it to the next Olympic Games.
