Uriah Asante apologizes to Hearts coach

Midfielder Uriah Asante has apologized to coach Nebojsa Vucicevic for refusing to come on as a substitute during Hearts of Oak's Premier League game at Heart of Lions.

The 22-year-old is believed to be unhappy with the decision of the Serbian trainer to leave him on the bench for their trip to the Kpando Park.

It is alleged that he refused to warm-up after the coach issued the directive during the second half.

This has led to a strained relationship between the Ghana youth international and the head coach.

Asante has shown remorse and issued a groveling apology to Vucicevic.

"The incident took place and when it came to our attention we stepped in to ensure there is no confusion between him and the coach," the club's spokesperson Albert Commey said.

"He has rendered an unqualified apology to the coach and we should leave it like that. I think it was a clear case of miscommunication.

''He said he didn’t know he was the one that the coach had asked to warm-up and so when the matter came up he duly apologized to the man."

Hearts blew the chance to keep the pressure on Kotoko after they were held at home by Bechem United in a 0-0 draw.

Hearts face a difficult way tie at AshantiGold in mid-week.
