Utd not considering Lukaku bids - Solskjaer

Published on: 14 July 2019

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United have not received any acceptable bids for Romelu Lukaku but remains unsure if he will stay at the club.

The Belgium international has been the subject of interest from Inter Milan with the Italian's sporting director Piero Ausilio claiming they had made an official approach for the striker this week.

The Red Devils are understood to have informed Inter that their proposal was not acceptable but the Serie A outfit have not given up hope of landing him.

Lukaku sat out Saturday's pre-season friendly win over Australian side Perth Glory after picking up a minor injury in training earlier in the week but he is expected to be available for Wednesday's game against Leeds United.

Solskjaer faced questions about Lukaku's future following the 2-0 victory over the Glory and admits it is still uncertain if the former Everton striker will still be at Old Trafford when the transfer window shuts.

Asked about Lukaku, the Norwegian said: "Let's see when the season starts. We have not had any bids that we are considering."

Later, Solskjaer issued a further update, telling reporters "you guys will know something next week".

United are still looking to add to their first-team squad having made two signings this summer - Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka - and Solskjaer believes they will complete more deals before the transfer window slams shut.

"Timing is obviously an issue but we are working as I have said before. Of course we are optimistic," Solskjaer added.

Lukaku scored 12 times in the Premier League last season and is 33/1 to finish as the Premier League's top goalscorer.

United finished sixth last season and are 11/10 to finish in the top four in the 2019/20.
