Ghana youth international Wakaso Mubarak was in top shape for Spanish side Villarreal which progressed to the semi-final of the Uefa Europa League by beating FC Twente 1-3 on Thursday.

Villarreal led the tie 5-1 from the first leg but were determined to leave no stone unturned.

Coach Juan Carlos Garrido assigned a Wakaso to the right wing and he made impact.

The Yellow Submarines return from the break 1-0 down but the 20-year-old ensured his side had the chance to restore parity.

The 20-year-old made Twente defender Dwight Tiendalli pay for an unpardonable error on the 58th minute.

He gave the ball away to Wakaso and he was on his way to scoring his debut goal for Villarreal but Tiendalli prevented him by lazily stucking a leg out and tripping the winger inside the box.

He received a straight red card for the offence and Italian Giuseppe Rossi stepped up to convert to keep the score level.

Striker Marco Ruben scored from another spot-kick before substitute Cani added the icing on the cake with a superb third goal with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Wakaso is yet to make his senior debut for Ghana.
