Watford and AC Milan in pursuit of Lyon forward

AC Milan and Watford have met with the agents of Olympique Lyonnais winger Maxwel Cornet in recent weeks with the view of signing the Ivorian international.

The 22-year-old has been a regular for the French side since making his debut at the beginning of 2015, racking up 150 appearances, scoring 33 goals and providing 13 assists.

According to L’Equipe the player has been the subject of interest for many clubs including Milan, but that English side Watford have made their own confident strides toward securing his signature.

Milan are at a disadvantage with UEFA restrictions limiting the Rossoneri to offering loan proposals with the view of making the deals permanent, while other clubs could sign Cornet immediately.

Lyon are demanding at least â‚¬20 million to part company with the former Metz player who is equally comfortable playing up front or in a wider position.

Cornet himself is prepared to take the next step in his career and the enticement of a more lucrative salary.
