Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi insists striker Asamoah Gyan will be dropped for the Nations Cup if he fails to recover fully from a hamstring injury.

Nyantakyi however stressed all factors will be considered before a final decision is made on the Al Ain striker.

"I will like to tell you that we will not take Asamoah Gyan to the Nations Cup if he fails to recover," he told Joy FM.

" We have been told his injury is a second degree hamstring and we have even been told he has 3-4 weeks to make a recovery.

"We have sometime on our side until our first game so we hope he will recover in time."

Nyantakyi also added it will be a massive blow if the 26-year-old fails to recover but he is very confident Gyan will be fine.

"An additional medical hand, Mariana had told us Gyan will make a recovery in a week and based on the work she did at the World Cup I believe her.

"However it will be a big blow if he doesn't make it because Asamoah Gyan is one if our best players."
