Andre Ayew nominated for Sports Writers topmost prize

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has been nominated for the prestigious 2011 Sports Writers Association of Ghana Personality of the Year.

The Olympique Marseille, who has also been nominated for the Footballer of the Year, faces competition from two-gold medal Paralympics athlete Ajara Mohammed.

Caf Champions League winner Harrison Afful is a third contender for the top most prize.

Afful is also in contention for the Footballer of the Year accolade likewise Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu.

Ayew was voted the 2011 BBC African Footballer of the Year last month and emerged second runner-up of the 2011 Caf African Player of Year.

Nania FC, winners of the MTN FA Cup and Super Cup, have been named Club of the Year.

All Africa Games gold medalist, Ghana's Under-23 team (Black Meteors), have been named for the Team of the Year Award.

Akwasi Appiah, who led the team to the historic medal, is Coach of the Year.
