Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will take to traditional horse placenta treatment to get himself fit for this month's Africa Cup of Nations.

The UAE-based striker has ruled out for three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for his club Al Ain.

With Africa’s flagship tournament starting on 21 January, Gyan has just 15 days to be fit for the start of the tournament.

The Ghana FA has recalled magical Serbian traditional healer Mariana Kovacevic to get the key Black Stars striker fit for the tournament after making use of her services during the 2010 World Cup.

The housewife from Serbia uses horse placenta treatment to get injuries to heal faster and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie and many others in the English Premier League have used her services in the past.

Ghana says he is ready to try the traditional Serbia treatment as he is desperate to be fit to get his country their first title in 30 years.

"The head coach has spoken to me about her and talking about her history she has been able to heal more Premiership players and during the World Cup she worked with us and according to the players it worked so I can't wait to meet her," Gyan said.

"Maybe it will work because I also want to play in the Nations Cup. I want to help my country.

"It's been a while since we won the trophy which is what everyone is expecting."

Gyan is key to Ghana's ambitions of winning their fifth continental title.

Ghana have been drawn in Group D of the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
