Kuala Lumpur: Sydney FC defeated Perth Glory on penalties to win the A-League Grand Final and be crowned champions of Australia on May 19, but elsewhere in the ASEAN region the domestic championships remain in full swing.

The race for the title in Thailand is heating up, while the gap between first and second in Malaysia continues to grow; the league championships in both Indonesia and the Philippines, meanwhile, have only just begun.

Thai League 1 leaders Port FC conceded a stoppage-time goal to draw 1-1 away at Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday, before Buriram United’s 1-0 victory over bottom side Muanghthong United a day later saw them close to within three points of the top with two games in hand.

Chiangrai United sit level on points with Buriram after seeing off Prachuap 1-0 while, at the other end, Chainat Hornbill and PTT Rayong remain in the relegation zone with Muangthong.
