Ayew: Ghana needs to own up to favourite tag against Botswana

Midfielder Andrer Ayew says Ghana needs to live up to its favourite by delivering victory over Botswana tomorrow.

The Black Stars open their Nations Cup account with a tricky Group D opener with the Zebras Tuesday evening in Franceville.

And though very wary of the threat posed by the proverbial unknown, the Marseille enforcer believes the quality of the Black Stars team should be enough to coast them to their first three points of the competition.

“We are united as a team, we know there are a lot of expectations and we know our quality,” he said.

“We believe in our coach Plavi, he has been a player before so he knows what it takes.

“We are favourites and we need to show we deserve this tag tomorrow.
