Ghana will play Mauritania in an international friendly on March 26th as scheduled, the Normalisation Committee has confirmed.

The Black Stars were reported to have scrapped off the friendly against the Lions of Chiguetti, with the team lined up to play Rwanda.

However, Spokesperson of the Ghana Football Association's Normalisation Committee, Dan Kwaku Yeboah says the team will face Mauritania as planned stating there is no friendly with Rwanda.

“Is not true, is just speculations in the media. The Black Stars will play Mauritania on March 26 at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he told Ghanasportsonline.com.

Both Ghana and Mauritania have already qualified for the the Nations Cup in Egypt. But Mauritania are travelling to Burkina Faso for their final AFCON qualifier on March 22nd.

For Mauritania, Egypt 2019 will be their first ever Nations Cup appearance.

Twenty four players were invited to Ghana’s camp for the March international break – where they get to play both Kenya and Mauritania. Both games will afford Kwasi Appiah the opportunity to assess all invited players.

The Africa Cup of Nations will be played for the first time in June.
