Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori claims Carpi deserved to win against Fiorentina on Wednesday night.
Having played a large portion of the game as equals in Tuscany, Mauro Zarate claimed the points for his new side in a 2-1 win.
“On the pitch we deserved to win, it would not have been a scandal,” he told reporters.
“We missed three chances in front of the goalkeeper, despite having the wind blowing against us.
“We played a great second half, found the draw and the defeat hurts,”
Castori then added this game proved how Carpi are growing after a decent run of performances.
“We proved we are growing, we didn’t deserve to lose, despite Mauro Zarate’s wonder goal,” he admitted.
“In the first game in Carpi, Fiorentina scored a lucky goal and we were denied a clear penalty, so we lost two games without deserving. We won in the Coppa Italia, but I would have rather won today.”
