ESPN's Shaka Hislop says David de Gea's confidence in net has a huge psychological effect on strikers ability to score on the Manchester United keeper.

Check out the best of David De Gea's 11-save performance for Manchester United in a crucial 1-0 win at Tottenham.

David De Gea's 11 saves helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer become the first Man United manager to win his first six matches with a huge win at Tottenham.

David De Gea is happy to commit his future to Manchester United but is pushing for a deal that would make him one of the club's highest paid players, sources have told ESPN FC.

United activated a clause in De Gea's contract in November that will keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2020.

Negotiations are ongoing over a fresh long term agreement but after talks opened last year, progress has been slow.

De Gea is settled in Manchester and has been delighted with the support he has received from United fans after a rocky start to his career in England and particularly after his botched move to Real Madrid in 2015.

However, the goalkeeper, who turned 28 in November, is aware that this could be his last sizeable contract and he is keen to be included in the club's top wage bracket alongside Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.

After arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2011, he is approaching 10 years at the club and his case is strengthened after winning the player of the year award in four of the last five seasons.

De Gea, who produced a man-of-the-match display in the 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday, has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world but the pool of clubs who could tempt him away from United is small.

Real Madrid signed Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea in the summer and there are doubts about whether Juventus could fit De Gea into their wage structure having splashed out on Cristiano Ronaldo.

De Gea is keen to win the Champions League and Paris Saint-Germain are a viable option should the French side look to recruit a goalkeeper over the next two summer transfer windows.

Sources have told ESPN FC that United remain confident they will be able to strike a deal with De Gea before he enters the last year of his contract.

He would be allowed to negotiate with clubs outside England from January 2020 ahead of his contract expiring in June.
