Five things you may not know about Aleña

- On 2 December, Carles Aleña's (5/1/98) dream came true, as the FC Barcelona player notched his first ever LaLiga Santander goal, having previously made his top-flight debut for the club on 2 April 2017 during a 4-1 win away to Granada CF.

- The midfielder, who joined Barcelona 2005, started playing football at a very young age and the game certainly runs through his veins, given that his father Francesc Aleña was a footballer as well.

- When Aleña joined the club's academy, the youngest players were born in 1997, and given that he was born in 1998, there was no U8 team for the youngster to join. Barcelona were so interested in the player, however, that they decided to accept him regardless.

- Aleña's idol has always been Rivaldo and the youngster happened to be born during the Brazilian's maiden season at Barcelona. His admiration for the left-footed wizard was so great that he started out in the same position as him, as a left winger.

- Barcelona have recently promoted Aleña into the first team, given that although the youngster has already been training with Ernesto Valverde's squad, he was still registered as an academy player. He will wear the number 21 shirt.
