Alessandria coach Angelo Gregucci believes his side can still qualify for the Coppa Italia final, despite their 1-0 loss to AC Milan in the first-leg of their semi-final.
The Grigi were able to hold Milan for much of the match as they defended admirably, yet they were denied by a penalty from Mario Balotelli.
“We are proud to have reached the semi-finals,” Gregucci told Rai Sport after the match.
“I want to thank everyone, my staff and the players. The support from the fans was amazing.
“We represented the city well. Reaching the final is still in the balance, we will see what happens at the San Siro. Our chances are small, but it’s not over.
“We have the heart, the desire, it’s just technically where we could not compete with Milan. We have kept our chances alive and given the fans belief.”
