Newcastle fans have hailed their Ghana star Christian Atsu for his excellent showing in their draw at Watford in their English Premier League match on Saturday.
Atsu was in top form for Newcastle United as they travelled to hold Watford to a 1-1 draw which has drawn praise for the midfielder after being lambasted in previous games.
The Ghana international was axed from the Magpies squad in their previous match on Boxing Day after some unimpressive showing in recent matches.
But Atsu seems to have learnt his lessons as he played his heart out and was instrumental in his side's goal which could spark him being given regular playing time at Newcastle.
The Ghana star was heavily credit for Newcastle's opener as he started the fabulously worked goal by the visiting side.
Atsu had a lovely drop of the shoulder to lose two Watford players and with simple well-weighted pass to release Ritchie on the left who crossed for Rondon to gleefully nodded home.
Substitute Abdoulaye Doucoure salvaged a point for Watford but he should have earned his side all three against Newcastle at Vicarage Road.
Supporters of Newcastle took to social media to praise Atsu for his performance and below are some of the comments.
The @TSN_Sports commentator literally went on a 2 minute rant about #NUFC having no attacking talent. All while Newcastle move the ball around the field. Atsu then kills two Watford players with great skill, Ritchie’s cross was perfect & Rondon heads home.
The guy goes silent!!

Fabulously worked goal by Newcastle. Christian Atsu must take the lion share of the credit. Lovely drop of the shoulder to lose 2 Watford players, simple well weighted pass to release Ritchie on the left. His first time cross gleefully nodded home by Rondon. Brilliant.

We were shocking today. Newcastle very nearly got away with the classic 5-4-1 away steal. But apart from Atsu and Rondon they were really poor.

Watching Newcastle is even more torturous than usual at the minute ?
Rondon living off scraps but still gets on the scoresheet, he has to stay fit..Atsu also had his best game for some time I thought. #NUFC

Fucking hell man, I love Rafa’s philosophy but we’re Newcastle and have never been able to see out a result! Rondon was the main man and Atsu had a good game. Good result bearing in mind everyone around us (pretty much) picked up points.#Watford 1-1 #NUFC
