Orlando Pirates’ Gabuza follows Matlaba and Morrison in refusing a move

Orlando Pirates striker, Thamsanqa Gabuza, has followed the actions of Thabo Matlaba and Bernard Morrison in refusing to join another Absa Premiership club this season.

Orlando Pirates’ burly centre forward, Thamsanqa Gabuza, is the latest player to turn down a move away from the Buccaneers; this is after Free State Stars enquired about his services.

Gabaza’s teammates Matlaba and Morrison also made the news last month after they refused to join Chippa United.

Local media reported that Stars is pushing for Gabuza’s move during the current transfer window but were unfortunately refused by the striker.

“Thamsanqa Gabuza has been one of the players Free State Stars had been interested in. But the player wasn’t keen on entertaining any talks of him going to the Free State, “said the source to local media.

However, the player hailing from KwaZulu-Natal’s Ladysmith reportedly shared a preference on where he would rather play his football this season.

“He could have interest in a move to Golden Arrows or AmaZulu but not Free State Stars, as he wants to be close to home,” said the source.

‘Gandaganda,’ as the player is called by his teammates, has steadily dropped down the pecking order since Pirates brought in the two Zambian strikers, Justine Shonga and Augustine Mulenga.

Gabuza, who has a love-hate relationship with the Pirates fans, is nevertheless believed to be highly valued for his very open honesty, big character and work ethic by most coaches who have been with Pirates since the player joined the club in 2013.

It remains to be seen if the striker will remain or part ways with Pirates before the transfer windows shuts down at the end of this month.
