Pioli demands Lazio improvements

Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has said his side must produce better performances if they want to qualify for Europe this season, after they lost 2-0 to Napoli on Wednesday.

The Aquile now sit in ninth place, four points behind AC Milan in the last Europa League spot, and now seem to face an uphill struggle to qualify for the competition.

“Looking at our position it’s hard for me to talk about qualifying for Europe.” said Pioli to Rai Sport after the match.

“It’s clear that we need to improve, but we can’t forget that we are still in the running for the Europa League.

“We haven’t won enough games at home this season, we played well for the first 20 minutes and after their goal we started making too many mistakes. ”

Pioli also lambasted the racist chanting, aimed at Kalidou Koulibaly, which stopped the game for a few minutes.

“The chants of discrimination shouldn’t exist,” he stated.

“People need to have more respect for others and learn that chanting those words is wrong.”
