Ghana defender David Addy has returned to training with his Portuguese side Porto after recovering from injury.

The 22-year-old suffered a thigh injury during Porto’s pre-season tour of Switzerland last week.

It was feared he would be out of action for several months but the left-back returned to training on Tuesday to continue with pre-season training.

He is likely to play in Wednesday’s friendly against Santa Clara.

Addy returned to the Portuguese champions at the end of the last campaign after impressing on loan at Greek club Panetolikos.

The left-back is making steady progress in Porto’s pre-season exercises and looks good to claim a regular spot in Vitor Pereira’s team for the coming season.

Addy’s injury also has a negative bearing on the Black Stars as Ghana prepares to take on Malawi in the final qualifier for the 2013 Nations Cup in September.

The defender had a highly-successful stint in the Greece where he featured in 25 times and scored three goals from the left-back position.
