Ghana defender Daniel Opare escaped a career threatening injury in Royal Antwerp's 1-0 win over Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian Jupilar Pro League on Saturday.

The 27-year-old had one of his best games in the shirt of Royal Antwerp as they pipped the newly promoted side by 1-0.

However, the former Real Madrid Castilla youth defender could have finished the match with a career threatening injury on the 17th minute after he was butchered by Mouscron defender Idrisa Sambou on the half way line.

Everyone especially Antwerp fans at the Stade Le Canonnier was shouting for referee Bram Van Driessche to issue a direct red card to the Malian international but official was only able to dish out a yellow card.

Opare joined the Laszlo Boloni's side on a two-year contract as a free agent after failing to extend his contract with German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
