Kuala Lumpur: There was a winning start for new Singapore head coach Tatsuma Yoshida, Igor Stimac recorded his first triumph as India head coach but there was a penalty shootout heartbreak for Vietnam on another night of international friendlies on Saturday.

SINGAPORE 4-3 SOLOMON ISLANDS

Yoshida, who took charge of Singapore just last week, saw his team take the lead against Solomon Islands in the fourth minute through Faris Ramli's header.

Gagame Feni equalised for the visitors three minutes into the second half and Solomon Islands went ahead 10 minutes later through Andrew Abba.

Singapore drew level in the 67th minute through Shahdan Sulaiman's free-kick but Solomon Islands went ahead again through captain Benjamin Totori eight minutes later.

Singapore's response was almost immediate, with Khairul Amri drawing them level and five minutes from the end, Hariss Harun scored from a goalmouth melee to secure the win.

CURACAO 1-1 VIETNAM (Curacao won 5-4 on penalties), THAILAND 0-1 INDIA

Buriram: The Thailand King’s Cup ended in thrilling fashion as Curacao lifted the trophy, edging Vietnam 5-4 on penalties after the final ended 1-1.

The teams fought hard on a humid day in Buriram but eventually, 90 minutes didn’t prove enough to separate the two and penalties decided the matter.

Curacao defender Carolina scored the first goal of the game in the 57th minute as he fired home from the edge of the box.

With 10 minutes left in the game, Vietnam found the back of the net through Pham Duc Huy as the match went to penalties.

However, Nguyen Cong Phuong missed the second penalty for Vietnam, which proved to be decisive eventually.

Earlier, India edged Thailand 1-0 courtesy of Anirudh Thapa's (pictured above) goal to finish third and give new head coach Stimac the first win of his reign.
